My niece is there now. She is happy enough but I really don’t get the frenzy. She has not really been inspired by school from what I can tell. I think coop schools are great for some kids. She is doing a second coop in fall. She probably did not need these experiences to get a great job and it breaks apart the college experience. I say this as someone whose son is in a coop school (engineering) and I’m very glad he is getting coops. But it just doesn’t seem like a great school to me. Not bad mind you … but not amazing by any means.
As I posted about coop 10:24, coop is an option for you. If you don't need/want a coop, do research or study abroad. Also, coop opportunities are all over the country and also overseas. However most of the coop happen near Boston area maybe like 70-80%. If your coop is in the Boston area, you can get on campus housing and still get involved with all the school activities and benefits. It's just all about options and opportunities. My kid missed an opportunity to do a study abroad and felt bad about it, but got a coop abroad in the Fall. Just doing one coop.
