Maybe it's already in the thread, but isn't there some sense in several Ds giving votes to McCarthy for concessions instead of him bowing to the RW?
JFC, for the last time, this is not Democrats problem to solve! News flash, KM IS RW! He’s giving the bomb throwers everything they’ve asked for. Stop asking Dems to clean up GOP sh!t. Again, any Rs who want to govern can reach out to Jeffries. Until then, we can all see who are the grownups and who are the children. Next election, vote accordingly.
This. In November 2024, no one will remember that the Democrats were the grownups in the room to end the vote. The average American does not care about this chaos. The concessions McCarthy is making is weakening the Speaker's role. The Democrats will benefit from this.
We all lose when whoever is speaker refuses to raise the debt ceiling creating global economic chaos that benefits the Russians and China. THAT is what this is all about. Which is why the Dems should coalesce with whatever sane repiublicans are left to get someone in there who will do the bare minumum not to destroy our country and the global economy.
Well it will benefit the Democrats if the voters finally throw out the anti govt bomb throwers. They will y realize that in fact.. they do need a functioning government.
if the anti government bomb throwers are successful, it will be too late
If McCarthy can't control them, the concessions that he's offering will make it easy for moderates to pull him down.
Concessions mean nothing. If he’s speaker he won and he wields the power. Period.
concessions would be part of a rules package, but if he doesn't have the votes, it won't pass. According to politico, he's offering chairmanships to freedom party members which isn't going over well with the members who were in line for the positions.
