DC accepted at Lewis & Clark and Reed EA. FYI, Reed did it old school via mail instead of portal. The package included a book (Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man), a journal and other stuff. Nicely reinforced the intellectual (and lefty) bent of the school. DC had just gotten accepted ED at a school that's probably a better fit but I wanted to mention Reed as well as L&C here since they are a little off the beaten track for DCUM but both great schools.
Not a lot of kids out west apply to both of those schools. Reed is west coast Swarthmore. Lewis & Clark is more like west coast Richmond (minus the hoops). They're very different from each other.
Lewis and Clark is not as well regarded or known as U of Richmond. Same with Reed v Swarthmore (though I think Reed is probably underrated).
You've totally missed the point.
What is the point? These schools aren’t comparable. And this thread isn’t for mentioning schools for people to consider and comparing them to other schools.
PP whose kid got into Reed as well as Lewis & Clark. Yes, very different, but both strong academics for international relations which is kid's interest. (Reed obviously stronger but perhaps less of a good cultural fit for my kid.) Lewis & Clark also offered $30k/yr merit aid. His ED acceptance is at a great LAC that's really right for him, but wow $120k would have been tempting! Again just mentioning for future parents like me who will read these threads looking for ideas on where to apply.
