+1.
Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Anonymous wrote:Tulane is a black box for their admissions-seeing some really high stat kids getting in (and congrats!) so SMH at how the kid we know got in with a low GPA (think 3.3 max) and nothing particular EC wise. Guess some cash behind the scenes came into play.
How on earth would you know his GPA?![]()
Because the student only exists in her fertile imagination

FYI, Reed did it old school via mail instead of portal. The package included a book (Ralph Ellison, Invisible Man), a journal and other stuff. Nicely reinforced the intellectual (and lefty) bent of the school.
DC had just gotten accepted ED at a school that's probably a better fit but I wanted to mention Reed as well as L&C here since they are a little off the beaten track for DCUM but both great schools.

Not really. They only accepted 10% of EA applicants.
Rejected with 3.98 uw and 4.65 w GPA. Test optional. Wrote all essays. Showed lots of interest-- interview, in person info session, online info session, student panel. UGH!! What a colossal waste of time. Could have been using that time to write essays and study for classes.
Why test optional? If student is from area where testing was available, they may have suspected low test scores.

Not a lot of kids out west apply to both of those schools. Reed is west coast Swarthmore. Lewis & Clark is more like west coast Richmond (minus the hoops). They're very different from each other.
Lewis and Clark is not as well regarded or known as U of Richmond. Same with Reed v Swarthmore (though I think Reed is probably underrated).
You've totally missed the point.
What is the point? These schools aren’t comparable. And this thread isn’t for mentioning schools for people to consider and comparing them to other schools.

Very strong GPA though. I am also interested why test optional however.
