Yes, this singer should vote GOP, who will cut rich people’s taxes and eliminate social programs that would help *him,* but will give him more grievances to write songs.
Yes - the Democrats have done so much to win the hearts and minds of young working class white men.
Young working class white men don’t want a hand up, they want a hand out. That’s the truth. Life’s gotten hard since they have to compete in the new economy on their merits, and the truth is their parents did not position them well for this world. It’s not enough to just show up white in a pressed shirt and with a smile on your face and then be set for the rest of your life. You have to educate yourself in a subject or a trade, lay off drugs, and stop making babies you can’t afford, and then work hard every day and make smart choices on top of it. I grew up working class and let’s just say many of my male peers didn’t get the message. They didn’t value education because their parents didn’t and found themselves completely flat footed when their high school degree did not translate into middle class wealth. Not to say I don’t sympathize with what it is happening - I know better than most that if you’re not born into wealth into this country you have an uphill climb- but the amount of unforced errors I’ve seen boggle the mind. Would you want to hire some entitled brat who can barely spell his name, gets sloshed every night, and has 3 baby mammas sending child support orders to your payroll department? No, you would not.
People are dealing with massive amounts of trauma that often takes the form of addiction and impulsive behavior. Generational trauma is biological. Count yourself lucky that you don’t know the depths of such pain. The system is what screws them over.
