My son got into Penn State yesterday. He has average grades but takes hard courses. He was in shock. He was expecting it after getting rejected by Pitt. Pitt was his clear first choice. But he is slowly becoming excited.
What were his stats? My kid has been waiting on Pitt, submitted in early October. Hard classes, average grades, decent SAT (1300s) We are gearing for a rejection since it is taking so much longer than everyone else.
He was TO with a 3.5 UW and weighted a bit higher but not much. Pitt is tough because most kids are in the same pool, Dietrich. Who is in the pool? The pre-med kids. Penn State has lots of colleges and each have different standards, Ag, Communications, Minerals and Education for example. At our school the average GPA for Pitt is a 3.6 UW. Penn State goes a little lower due to the number of colleges. With Pitt you can't avoid Dietrich.
