VU won 3-1 and lost 0-2 v. Loudoun (tourney).  Agreed, seem evenly matched, not too aggressively coached, equal talent and mutual respect.  Mid table teams providing competitive games both hi and low.[/quote]

Last year Union finished in 11th place. Currently they are in 6th.

Their goal differential last against Richmond was -8, this year they tied. 0-2

Last year their GD against VDA was -6, this year they tied. 0-3

Last year they GD against Loudoun was -2 going 0-2-1. This year they 1-0 in league play with +3 GD. 1-1 with +1 including WAGS.

Yes, VA Union definitely improved from last year, while Loudoun may have taken a step back, but it is too early to tell.  We will know more about Loudoun after they play Richmond and Arlington in their next 2 games. Loudoun's league record in October is 5 losses, 1 draw 1 win so they are clearly in a slump.  VA Union record in October 4 wins, 1 loss (CESA) and one draw (Richmond).  Both teams could finish strong. [/quote]

The thing with VU is they should get better as they play together more. They are pretty much a new team this year with over 1/2 new to the club’s system. Also the final games in tournaments can be misleading. It’s usually the 4th game(sometimes 5th game) over two days. The girls have dead legs and the games usually end up being a pretty ugly game of kick ball. I have seen teams that should beat another team lose because of mental and physical tiredness. [/quote]
