Lol every ECNL team in the DMV will end up with 2-5 D1 players. You would think being on a “top of the table” team would matter but it does not. The GA teams will do the same.

How does a team almost win when they lose 0-3?

I think PP probably meant to say VU won 3-0 rather than 0-3.

VU won 3-1 and lost 0-2 v. Loudoun (tourney). Agreed, seem evenly matched, not too aggressively coached, equal talent and mutual respect. Mid table teams providing competitive games both hi and low.

Union won 3-0. This might be the first time a 3-0 game would ever be described as “anyones game”.

Yet Loudoun beat Union 2-0 and completely controlled the game only 2 weeks ago. This is anyones game Loudoun had 1 bad game but both teams are average

Loudoun is 1-4-1 in league play in October Union is 4-1-1 against the same teams. Loudoun has had more than one bad game.

Loudoun people call that record ahmazing. But then they wonder why they’re the laughin stock of NOVA soccer *insert tacky hashtag phrase that makes us think we’re better*

Loudoun are doing well in the 2007 & 2009 age groups. Loudoun Will continue to grow

Good for Loudoun. How is Loudoun 2010?

This then we could assum that local clubs are doing well at least in one age group.

Union is in 6th place and Loudoun 7th why is Union suddenly a good team? Both teams are average at best and no where near VDA or Courage. Sit down and have some coffee Union your not going to nationals

Last year Union finished in 11th place. Currently they are in 6th.

Their goal differential last against Richmond was -8, this year they tied. 0-2

Last year their GD against VDA was -6, this year they tied. 0-3

Last year they GD against Loudoun was -2 going 0-2-1. This year they 1-0 in league play with +3 GD. 1-1 with +1 including WAGS.

It appears that they are certainly a much improved team, how improved? Only the second half of the season can answer.

Yes, VA Union definitely improved from last year, while Loudoun may have taken a step back, but it is too early to tell. We will know more about Loudoun after they play Richmond and Arlington in their next 2 games. Loudoun's league record in October is 5 losses, 1 draw 1 win so they are clearly in a slump. VA Union record in October 4 wins, 1 loss (CESA) and one draw (Richmond). Both teams could finish strong.

The thing with VU is they should get better as they play together more. They are pretty much a new team this year with over 1/2 new to the club’s system. Also the final games in tournaments can be misleading. It’s usually the 4th game(sometimes 5th game) over two days. The girls have dead legs and the games usually end up being a pretty ugly game of kick ball. I have seen teams that should beat another team lose because of mental and physical tiredness.

I’ve never heard so many parents of a mid table team talk so much on this board. We get it. Your team is better than it was last year because it picked up eight new players. Congratulations.

Yes only VDA should post here. Everyone else is mid table. Congrats to VDA for their mid season results!

Lol. Mid season results mattered a lot a few weeks ago on this thread. I thought VDA regressed? Where is Arlington dad?

LOL Arlington Dad predicted VDA would be mid table at the end of this past weekend. Nice call moron!

Arlington Dad started this in June, we were going to see Arlington destroy everyone in the league

Wait a second, what about the folks who regulary post that playing against better players and competition makes you better? It could be players are developing but so is everyone else therefore the results -- in the case of bryc losing -- are relative. Winning and losing doesn't equate to development.

With just over a year of ECNL play for this age group things are starting to take shape. VDA whom was a solid team in the area appears to have made some great additions to take them that next step. Other area clubs as well have improved. Loudon and McLean(Union) are also having a better fall season as well. The methods for how the clubs got there is the biggest difference. VDA picked up a new ECNL director a year or so ago MW. How much he has added I don’t know. I’ve seen him take a losing boys team from his family travel to Va Beach and pull off an upset win of top ranked team in the state. He isn’t for everyone’s DD’s but I like the guy. QP I only hear amazing things about him. People would say he does things the right way. Fundamentals for this team is solid. They bring in a sub and there isn’t a change in game play. As they continue to play and build more cohesion this team is going to be highly competitive at a top level.

McLean and Loudon from what I’ve seen appeared to have picked up several new players and this is what really has made the difference for them. So, long-term is it sustainable? Only time will tell. I don’t believe so as these teams’ improvement are purely based on players moving to new clubs. It’s just a matter of time before the grass becomes greener at another club for them. Sure, they have players that standout from the crowd and I wouldn’t take anything from them. However, they are not VDA. Top to bottom they just aren’t built the same. Player development and all of the catchy terms used to get parents in are probably not being worked on at the same level as VDA.

Then we have BRYC. There really isn’t much to be said here. Most everything has already been said on the previous 50 tabs and 99 other threads. As a parent how can you consider your DD is getting any development playing on a team that is 0-2-20 in ECNL play. They have been outscored 14-93. "The definition of insanity is doing the same thing over and over again and expecting different results"

As a mid table PP, I get it, you've had to read thru the last few pages of Loudoun and VU talk, out of 50+ pages since August. So, what's your perspective? Are you sharing trends, data, gut feelings on the current and future states of the '08s? Better yet, are you asking questions to get perspectives of others? So many of us are standing by...

Virginia Union 08 is the best team in Virginia.

Good grief everyone here are such defensive, cynical, maximalist douches.

All but two VA 08 teams are mid table or better in both ECNL and GA. That is very good collectively for the region. Stop pissing on everything all the time.
