I think it’s several things.

1) Growing up and maturing and learning that the messy brooding artsy “I can fix him” types might set your sheets on fire, but they aren’t the types you marry and have kids with. You marry and have kids with the boring/stable nice guy from a nice family who will always be a little bit more into you than you’re into him.

2) She likes the free spirit artsy creative types but they don’t like her back because her whole existence is too corporate and curated.

3) She wants or wanted to be the type of woman that a guy like Matty would go for, but deep down she knows & has accepted that it’s actually not who she really is and that what she’s actually wanted all along was someone like Travis: a big, strong, popular star athlete to notice her, choose her, and worship her.[/quote]
