This woman brought this on herself. If you have overstayed a visa then you should not put yourself in a situation where you will encounter immigration authorities without first getting advice from an immigration lawyer. The penalties can be harsh. Not knowing the rules is not an excuse.[/quote]

She overstayed when Covid hit and flights were cancelled. Many people on visa overstayed then cause there were no flights. If I recall, at the time, they were not penalized for overstaying in 2020, but now it seems it’s coming back to count against them.[/quote]
Countries were organizing repatriation flights for their citizens back in 2020. This woman likely saw an opportunity to stay. [/quote]
