Anyone who can just completely ignore the mounting evidence that covid infections themselves, even when they don't kill you outright, even mild infections, can actually wreak havoc on your immune system, brain, internal organs, and who knows what else is just sticking their head in the sand and singing a happy tune to themselves. It's everyone for themselves, and for some people that means unstrap all the safety equipment, point the car at the rock, and floor the gas. The government is allowing you to do that, so feel free. Just don't be all "I wish I had ..." or "Nobody told me ..." if you win one of the sad prizes in the covid lottery.
Here's what I don't understand though. Sure, people might be one of the unlucky ones and get long covid and long-term problems. I agree. But avoiding covid at all costs has a known 100 percent negative outcome. Avoiding unmasked indoor gatherings and having your children mask for the rest of their childhoods have known 100 percent negative costs to mental health, quality of life, and normal childhood development. And if your response is oh we do gather indoors, then what are you going on about anyway? Or oh they won't have to mask forever, they just need to keep masking for now. Covid is here to stay so if your plan is make sure you never get it, your kids will need to mask for years to come.
