My former imam in the Seattle area was Indonesian. There is a fairly large Indonesian population there and they had their own islamic school. The children were taught Quranic Arabic. Meanings of some suras were taught. If I recall, he learned to read in Indonesia and they learned Quranic Arabic too. [/quote]
