Some of these have already been mentioned, but I love Traverse City, MI (only place I could ever imagine having a summer home). San Antonio was fun. I also love Annapolis, if you want something closer and with a (similar in some ways) fun/touristy waterfront. I had a great time in Tuscon: hiking in Saguaro National Park, exploring the gardens and having lunch at Tohono Chul, seeing the mission and eating fry bread there, enjoying the hotel pool and hot tub, and drinking margaritas. Omaha was also surprisingly great. The zoo is nice, there's a fancy baseball stadium, good Mexican food and murals, friendly people, lots of steakhouses if that's your thing, the Joslyn Art museum, and much more. My wife came back from a business trip to Oklahoma City and was shocked with how much fun she had. Glad to hear all the love for Pittsburgh--my brother is moving there this summer and I'm now excited to visit!
