Here's a chart that shows men's attractiveness based on three levels physical, psychological and ncome level, http://socionist.blogspot.com/2011/11/male-attractiveness-over-time.html?m=1
See, this chart is assuming women care primarily about earning potential. Given the fact that a man in his twenties has every potential to be earning the same as the early thirties guy at that age (in fact, more since men who are married tend to earn more than their single counterparts) why not snag him when he's young and good looking. You'll still get the benefit of that early 30s and so on income. Besides, i think most women in their twenties (myself and my friends at least) are mostly concerned with appearance. Of course, there should be a baseline- college educated with a job is a good thing. But most guys in their twenties already have that.
You exactly prove my point actually. Either you get these high earning potential young men when you both are in your twenties. When you reach your 30s the ones that are still not married have a way larger pool of women to choose from, what they don't have in physical attractiveness, though frankly I don't see it I think they still look good in their 30s, they make up for in their highly increased income. The pool for eligible men will grow much much smaller.
From my personal observations though, I have never seen a 34 year old guy with a rising income be single and then shoot straight for the 25 year old to date and marry. 34 year old fresh law school grads or something usually are engaged to or married to a 32-33 year old law school girlfriend. OR a 34 year old guy is married with children to a girl he met when they both were young and broke in their mid-late twenties. Single rich 34 year old men, are single by choice and are therefore players. A 24 year old girl will sleep with such a guy, for sure, and enjoy the perks of dating him and going to nice restaurants, but she would not marry him because he would not be marriage material to begin with. Now, if there's a 34 year old attorney who is recently divorced with one kid, and he is looking to date seriously and find wife 2, he could try with a 24 year old girl but she would most likely NOT want a baby daddy. A 32-34 year old woman would most likely marry a divorced attorney with child.
The single 34 year lawyer is more likely to date a 27 to 28 year old than an over 30 year old when he starts getting serious about marriage.
Thats a 7 year gap. Would a 27 year old woman want to marry a 34 year old lawyer when she can marry a 28 year old law student?
i would have dated the lawyer.
