In fact, I'd say the religious adherent is spinning his/her wheels.

What have Jesus' followers accomplished?  The bible includes the four gospels.  The four gospels discuss Jesus' life.  While Jesus may be  blip in 2-3 other sources, there is no talk of his miracles.
