Not the cop's wife but her DH's purpose is not punitive; his purpose is to uphold the law. If someone is being punished, it's due to their own free will in choosing to break the law.

Feel free to give the officer's DW your address so he knows not to show up when you need his services. But of course he will anyway, regardless of your attitude towards him. Because he's that kind of man.[/quote]Let's see....tip the trash collectors or tip the police who while doing their job to uphold the law which they are being paid to do, paid to show up when called, etc.

Both have difficult jobs but Mr. Policeman is no better than Mr. Garbageman.  They both have jobs to do.  And by the way, not everybody is punished because they 'chose' to break the law.  Plenty of innocent folks can attest to that but I digress.
