Didnt they do a study with babies that showed a clear preference for certain physical attributes over others... like big eyes? I honestly do not believe it had to do with race. It was for vanity... that's fine too! she should do whatever makes her feel comfortable in her own skin but don't lie about it.
This It had nothing to do with race. It was likely her own sense of inadequacy with regard to her Asian features - not a rarity given that these types of cosmetic surgery frequently occur in most Asian countries whether or not the recipient works in media. As others have commented she worked in an industry which emphasizes appearance and superficial attributes are important. What is remarkable is how the PC crowd feels a need to pontificate about discrimination against Chen because she is an Asian with certain facial features. I have heard a couple of discussions on TV about this subject and one has the usual tut tutting about what Chen went through but not one person has commented on the fact that she had a nose job as well which made more of an impact on her appearance than did the procedure on her eyes - something that numerous posters have mentioned because it is so obvious. She did not say anything about her nose being raised as an issue. It was vanity more than anything else but she deflects it for whatever reason to her Asian features not fitting the mold. If a white anchor - or would be anchor - had performed cosmetic surgery on her nose or other facial features to enhance her appearance there would not be a peep about it.
