He's an island because he's a Republican. This is why purple areas tend to be the best to live in - when one party (either one!) controls too long with no pushback, bad patterns get entrenched. This is why Rudy Guiliani, before he became a laughingstock, was actually a decent mayor. He came in and undid entrenched bad habits by coming from the other party.

Herrity pushed the sole source metro funding for the above ground verses the tunnel. He was the biggest opponent to the tunnel. He doesnt have good ideas. He just knows how to point out bad ones. [/quote]

It's been universally acknowledged by both parties in the County that the overhead metro in Tysons was a huge mistake compared to the tunnel and involved moving utilities as well. It also wasn't competitively bid and it made Herrity look inept both on policy and fiscal responsibility.[/quote]
