That’s not what OP is asking about. [/quote] No, it doesn't happen at the top schools because they don't care and don't bend to much. The schools that kids from the bottom of the class apply to DO bend to phone calls etc. And so the results for bottom-of-the-class kids can be quite distorded from a top private. You can have an unconnected bottom kid headed to a school ranked 150 while a connected kid will pull out a top75 school because someone made a call.
