You don't have a claim against the government (probably).  The importer paid the government.  You paid the importer or customs broker.  You need to take it up with them.[/quote]

No in this example UPS paid the tariff and was reimbursed by the customer. I had this happen to me. I ordered ceramic planters. The price jumped from $120 each to $500 each. Was contacted by the shipper saying this is your new cost because of tariffs. I declined and I have no idea what happened to the items.

So how is that different than a case where I buy something from a store and they include a tariff surcharge to cover their tariff cost?  Does the store get the refund or do I?[/quote]
