Some of us have been around long enough to see the difference with the previous HoS. Eight years ago on this day, Ms. Jones sent the following message to parents:

Watch as much of the Olympics with your daughters as you can, particularly Olympic events with female athletes. The Olympics is the only major sporting event that gives equal, unbiased celebratory attention to amazing female athletes, and it serves as an antidote to the overwhelming bias in favor of male sports on our screens and in the media. Most of the heroes of the summer Olympics 2016 in Rio were phenomenal female athletes, and I have no reason to expect anything different this year.”[/quote]
