It's not just a question of 'times are difficult'.  There is real fear - especially if one has vulnerable family members. How do you balance protecting the vulnerable with fighting back while also making a living?   Also, the entire nightmare of the last 10 years makes one question - do I actually belong in this country anymore?  Do I want to fight for a country where a substantial percentage support MAGA? hatest science and the federal government?  hates women?  hates international institutions?  Idk.  [/quote]

THIS. Some spoiled to shit white Blue state smugmug thinks she can turn on her hefty hoof and say hey you cowards I’m doing the work (one call a day) so just gooooo because Murica don’t want you anyway.  Well, snitch, I have family who are birthright citizens well past retirement age, and are changing travel because they are afraid of harassment. I have vulnerable people in my family who depend on me, DH, and others to live and be safe.

The question of how to be safe is a real one. I have been to protests and I have contacted my reps. Members of Congress who do not act NOW all should be replaced assuming our elections are actually held - and that is not hysteria. Does anyone remember that Giuliani tried to cancel the primary in the fall of 2001? He was awash in his own good press as “americas mayor” and thought he could just swat away term limits and be the hero of a rebuilt NYC. Here, we have serious doubt about what Trump and Miller will pull before the fall. Can we talk about that without some chunk scolding people for having rational fear? Does “doing the work” involve something beyond bookmarking Indivisible and having a crush on the pod John’s? GMAMFB. F off.[/quote]
