My brother and his wife never thought they'd be grandparents either and for years have been droning on and on about how you don't need grandkids and the world is to messed up for kids etc etc. Now one of their kids is pregnant and they're over the moon they're so happy. We love being grandparents ourselves. They're all local. They make the family complete and dynamic. Especially the holidays!
This is a pretty A**H*** thing to post to OP, considering how they’re feeling.
Right? It sounds like they accepted their lot in life, made the best of it, tried not to mope around about it, and now they're getting what they perhaps always silently wished for and they're excited. Or, alternatively, they got what they didn't think they were interested in and are now doing the only thing they can do- expressing joy and welcoming the new family member.
Oh- yeah, a mean thing to post to the OP too. I was commenting on it being a mean way to talk about their sibling!
Nah. I'm the poster who wrote this and I'm very close to my sibling. So close, in fact, that I kept my mouth shut whenever they went on and on with their anti-kid thing because I knew it was a defense mechanism and I have been proven right. I'm very happy for them. I think most of the poster on here who claim not to care about ever having grandkids are also just being defensive. Grandkids complete a family. They just do. We just had another joyous holiday with all of our kids, their spouses, all the grandkids, the dogs -- all of us. It's just fun.
