Growing up, we had a family friend of my mom's who was like a grandma to us. She was so incredibly loving and caring. We really loved her so much and were so thankful to have her. She would take care of us while our parents were at work, and we'd visit her and her husband, have lunch or dinner and play cards or go to the park, and even sleep over sometimes. She really was the definition of a loving grandparent. They both were. There are days when I really miss them like my own grandparents. All this to say, you just don't know whose lives you'll touch. It doesn't have to be biological grandchildren to get the grandparent experience.

I'm from a family of four kids, two of which don't have children. And if my parents did something like this my brother and I (who have kids) would absolutely refuse our extra share and split evenly with our siblings. That's an excellent way to leave a bad taste in everyone's mouths after you

We are fine with 2 or our 3 kids choosing not to have children. If you don’t want to raise them you shouldn’t have them. However, we won’t be leaving them the same inheritance. There’s no point in making them wealthy to what?? Leave it to the animal society? The one with kids will inherit 80% the other 2 can split the remainder.

Nah. I'm the poster who wrote this and I'm very close to my sibling. So close, in fact, that I kept my mouth shut whenever they went on and on with their anti-kid thing because I knew it was a defense mechanism and I have been proven right. I'm very happy for them.

I think most of the poster on here who claim not to care about ever having grandkids are also just being defensive.

Grandkids complete a family. They just do. We just had another joyous holiday with all of our kids, their spouses, all the grandkids, the dogs -- all of us. It's just fun.

I wouldn't want my kids to have children to make my holidays fun. If they want to have and raise children, totally their choice.
