I’m surprised you didnt take him to a doctor yourself on one of the weekends. Minute clinic or something. Infected toe is a big deal.
This is the part I don't really understand either. You're in NYC? Plenty of health care available on the weekends; it's not like being in a rural area somewhere where options are limited. Honestly, on the toe issue, it does sound like you are equally at fault and ultimately your son's specific, non-school-related medical care is your responsibility. I can honestly understand why the nurse and principal are frustrated with you even if they expressed it unprofessionally. Also, is this a school with mostly FT boarders or mostly day students? Picking up your kid every weekend is pretty unusual at a school that is mostly full-time boarders, but a school with mostly day students, it would make more sense & perhaps explain why the school isn't as good at medical issues (because most kids' parents would handle directly). The rest of it sounds pretty terrible. Your son should be able to get moved to a new room; most schools keeps a couple of rooms for issues like this. It's hard to know what was happening in the humiliation story, but you should definitely reach out to the teacher in question. Sounds like they didn't behave well, but my guess would be that your kid is leaving out important details on this one.
