Job security and stability was a huge and unquestioned benefit, until DOGE. Working for the mission, not to prioritize third party profit at the expense of good work itself. Clear pathway for job advancement and clear (and enforced) guidelines against discrimination. Before 1987, the retirement plan was amazing. It changed in 1987, and has been chipped away at twice since then, but it was still better than much in the private sector.[/quote]
