To the first PP --- who has the kid with lots of people getting 2's on AP Calc AB --- what were their grades in the class? My kid took Calc AB -- from a "high performing" HS in FCPS. Grade was "A" for the class. AP score = 4 (which is fine with us b/c it gets DS credit for Calc I at his univ.) Maybe these kids were already struggling in the class.
Ditto for my kid at an MCPS W, who had an A in the class and a 4 on the exam. Teacher really prepared them.
I agree that a bad teacher can really ruin the AP test score, as well as student's mastery of the subject. During the pandemic virtual year, my son had straight As in AP Calc, and ended up with a 2 on the exam. We were all surprised, but in hindsight, my son kept telling us that he didn't think his teacher was that good. We should have gotten him a tutor or something, but we just didn't catch on.
