Your BROTHER doesn’t care enough to have it domestically, OP, so stop blaming his fiancee. Even if she wants it, he’s still going along with it. If I had told my DH we were going to have a destination wedding and not care if family showed up, he would have said, uh NOPE. And he is as mild-mannered as they come. It’s so tiresome for you to be blaming a woman instead of your brother. He has a brain and a voice. If he cared about your family being there, you’d know it. But he doesn’t. He’s Just Not That Into You.
The groom is my BIL, DH’s brother, not my brother. We will go. We may be the only family who goes.
OK? Who cares? Great thread.
My question was on the OP. Do you expect people not to attend by having a destination wedding? We have a small family and bride has a large family. I would think BIL would want his whole family there, but maybe he doesn’t care.
Destination weddings are a good way to balance the attendee lists between the different-sized families because only the key people come. I think most of the butt hurt about these weddings comes from people who want to be catered to. For invited families with children, the perfect solution is to just send the one person who prompted the invitation, but apparently that isn’t making a lot of you happy.
