One who doesn't constantly play favorites and actually changes the lineup around when some kids have bad games. One who gets the back part of the roster a lot of playing time in those games that are blowouts. One who is smart enough to adjust the lineup to the opponents strengths of speed or size and doesn't just blindly double down on their first impressions of players in Sept. And most importantly, one who doesn't sideline the same 2-3 players, basically cutting them from the team, because as a coach they can't handle a large roster properly. Essentially, a crap coach uses demotivation more than motivation as a tool. This is why getting a good coach is everything.
None of what you said describes a "fair coach" other than the "doesn't constantly play favorites". The other things you mentioned describes competency more so than impartiality. Even the things about favoritism have me doubting. Nothing personal against you, since I don't even know you, but I've experienced far too many times where parents think coaches are playing favoritism. Do you actually know of any coach who does not want to win? Coaches will pick players who they think will help a team win. If your child isn't given enough playing time, there is a far greater chance that coach thinks other players are better and very remote chance it is because the coach "favors" other players for any other reason.
