OP here- okay let me reframe my question. My goal is NOT college recruitment. It is to have fun, learn and play in HS. Our HS is very competitive (not DC area) Club 1: U12 3rd team, but the U12 1st team of Club 2 Club 1 offer: 3rd team (ECNL platform) Club 2 offer: 2nd team (GA platform) 26-27 year: probably would make GA team due to age group change (if it happens for GA)
ECNL and GA are only relevant to the 1st teams at their clubs. 2nd and 3rd teams get NO benefit from being in the same club as their top teams. Zero. You are not part the platform unless you are on the top team. The coaching will be different. The experience will be different. And your kid will actually have a better chance at making those 1st teams someday coming from outside the club rather than getting promoted from their own lower teams. Do not fall into the marketing trap of thinking that ECNL-RL is somehow part of the ECNL (national) platform. It is a completely separate league with separate events, separate coaches, separate schedules. Similarly, GA-Aspire/GA2 is a completely different league and experience from GA. In short, go where your kid gets the most playing time, has the best coaches and teammates. Then try out for all the 1st teams every year if you want to break into a national platform.
