Yeah, the problem I had with the show is they never really convinced me that Ginni would be with him. I get that he has money, and maybe he was more romantic than guys her age. But all of her friends were not coupled up and she tried to come across it first that she was really into fluidity blah blah blah. And he was super messy with a teen daughter and an ex-wife? I just don’t buy it.

Like why would she get with this older dude and want to hang out his friends? It just wasn’t a convincing relationship to me. And it made no sense that after only a few months, she would’ve done the parents weekend. I also didn’t get that she was a dental hygienist! They should’ve made her the Pilates, instructor or something. It just didn’t track with her friends that she would be a dental hygienist. That’s kind of a working class job and she clearly comes for money as do her friends.

This is a good analysis and brings up a lot of good questions. All that said, Ginni was a complete good sport and very blameless in all of it. It's really hard to find fault with her or her relationship (even if it wasn't fabricated in an all that convincing manner!). They certainly shed her in a very good light. But it does make the most sense that Nick starts to go on her vacations and separate from his group a bit. [/quote]

I thought their relationship was realistic.  Steve Carrell is really hot for an older guy, and he had a lot of money and was super into her.  She made the point that the young guys she dated were not caring at all -- I can see a woman in her early thirties just being really exhausted by the perpetual adolescence of the guys her age.  Picking a guy that's more like 40 is more common (I know sooooo many 40 year old guys who married 30 year old women!), but Steve C at 55 looks more like 45.  Did you see him with his shirt off?  He's one of those guys that looks better at 55 than he did at 35.  [/quote]

+1 I thought it was a very realistic relationship for that age gap. She is very pretty but portrayed as pretty "mature" - she was a good character and not a total cliche. He is clearly rich but still looks good too. [/quote]
