Agree, I think Tina looks amazing. I often find it distracting to watch actresses who look great but have clearly had a ton of work done to preserve their former “hotness” - meanwhile Tina looks great with the fairly normal face and body she’s always had. Her hair color also looked really nice and shiny.

Yeah, the problem I had with the show is they never really convinced me that Ginni would be with him. I get that he has money, and maybe he was more romantic than guys her age. But all of her friends were not coupled up and she tried to come across it first that she was really into fluidity blah blah blah. And he was super messy with a teen daughter and an ex-wife? I just don’t buy it.
Like why would she get with this older dude and want to hang out his friends? It just wasn’t a convincing relationship to me. And it made no sense that after only a few months, she would’ve done the parents weekend. I also didn’t get that she was a dental hygienist! They should’ve made her the Pilates, instructor or something. It just didn’t track with her friends that she would be a dental hygienist. That’s kind of a working class job and she clearly comes for money as do her friends.
But I will say I did really love the show. It kept me hooked for sure.
This is a good analysis and brings up a lot of good questions. All that said, Ginni was a complete good sport and very blameless in all of it. It's really hard to find fault with her or her relationship (even if it wasn't fabricated in an all that convincing manner!). They certainly shed her in a very good light. But it does make the most sense that Nick starts to go on her vacations and separate from his group a bit.
I thought their relationship was realistic. Steve Carrell is really hot for an older guy, and he had a lot of money and was super into her. She made the point that the young guys she dated were not caring at all -- I can see a woman in her early thirties just being really exhausted by the perpetual adolescence of the guys her age. Picking a guy that's more like 40 is more common (I know sooooo many 40 year old guys who married 30 year old women!), but Steve C at 55 looks more like 45. Did you see him with his shirt off? He's one of those guys that looks better at 55 than he did at 35.

It wasn't horrible; there were some funny scenes, but I had to completely separate it from the original film and consider it on its own (otherwise, it wouldn't hold a candle).
Most disappointing was the Tina Fey and Will Forte dynamic. Their situation was painfully accurate, but felt like a missed opportunity for these 2 talented comedians to be playing a pathetic bickering middle-aged couple.
Agree that the gay couple felt a little too campy/cliche.
Let's hear it from my Beacon peeps! (And good luck to your kid at Vassar!)
I liked it a lot. Steve Carrell is a really talented actor -- makes me a little sad he stayed on the office as long as he did, where I think his talents were kind of wasted. I was a little frustrated with the Tina Fey/Will Forte dynamic -- I really wanted her to be nicer to him. (My spouse is something of the opposite of a Will Forte, and I think I felt jealous of her being with this dopey sweet guy who just wants to do nice things for her even if he isn't super competent all the time.) And the young GF did a really good job being charming and giving her character some depth.
Now I want to watch the original. I absolutely ADORE Alan Alda, and have since I was about 4 years old.
About an hour after I saw it, I suddenly thought of a really sticky legal and/or ethical problem that the ending poses. I dont' want to say it outright, because I don't want to spoil the ending, but those of you who saw it might be able to guess what I'm thinking. What a mess!

Steve Carell‘s character could pass for that. Steve is 62 in real life but is looking pretty good.
The confusing part for me is Anne‘s character. Why do they have her looking so much older. I guess she is supposed to be the old wife left behind for the young girlfriend. But like how old is she supposed to be? My thing is, she’s an attractive woman, and if she would just change and modernize her haircut that would do a lot. It’s just sort of sad that they made her up that way
Tina Faye is still looking like she takes care of herself and is in the game lol
I think that's the point - her hair is truly awful.
She can be morphed into most anything, like on Reno 911, but in this show she's supposed to not be trying with her husband.

but hmm her head shots have almost similar hair. Maybe she needs a (new) stylist
