The OP makes a good point.  This isn’t about sports, it’s about sex.  Few women have ever competed against trans athletes.  But many, many men have felt attracted to a transwoman and then felt shame and communication at their own arousal.  A friend of mine was seduced, roofied, and robbed by a transwoman.  And he feels weird about it because if his cultural conditioning.  Not the robbery, the hookup.  His own attraction for the female’s male spaces.  OP is right.  The issue Republican men have with trans folks isn’t about sports and it isn’t even about trans folks themselves. It’s well-documented that many men are attracted to transwomen and it’s well-documented that many men are so confused and angry about this that they are hateful or even violent toward trans folks.  There’s no way the minuscule number of trans athletes would have swayed an election without the intense emotions cisgendered men feel about the subject.  [/quote]

Sorry, I’m confused.  What idea are you objecting to, exactly?  That some men are attracted to  trans folks? (It’s a huge online adult entertainment category). That some men feel angry or threatened by transwomen? (Um, have you ever MET a MAGA?)  That phobic or insecure or bi-curious men sometimes rage against trans folks (this parallels the history of homophobia and the struggle for gay rights).  That the clash between trans defenders on the left and transphobes on the right had some impact on the election due to cynical Republican messaging? (Have you ever MET a politician?). Or something else?  I respect your opinion, I just realized that I wasn’t clear on what it is and I’d be interested to know.  [/quote]
