My kids don't swim the Winter Classic, but as I understand it rosters are limited to a set number for each team, with the expectation that kids are swimming the max number of events eligible.  I'm that scenario, I could see a kid who has faster times in one stroke not swimming because there is an overall advantage in having another kid who is more balanced.  That doesn't mean it is preferential treatment, just a coaching decision.

If you have concerns with the coaching decisions (for club, summer, high school, whatever), talk to the coach.  What did T say when you asked why your kid didn't get to swim?  And please be honest, this is for posterity.  [/quote]

It's impossible that Torey controls the entire Winter Classic roster, as much as you want that to be true. There are a certain number of slots per team and it's pretty competitive as you get older. There are other York groups and coaches that have input and I'm sure it's based on times, like all "invite" meets. Maybe he has a bigger pull for the younger swimmers, but for the older ones, I can assure you it's tough to get a spot. [/quote]
