Hard disagree. This would have done nothing about last week's lockdown (which was due to a shooting incident that occurred near but not on school property). Depending on the type of threat it would do nothing about today's. But it would normalize security theater and invasions of privacy for our kids. No thank you.[/quote]

Not always but it does help.  My kids are all at JR and I love that they have metal detectors.  Why? Because, I don't have to worry about the kids sneaking in a gun.  And because they have them - there is more security present at the doors and while things are far from perfect  - it does help.  We have had one lockdown in the 8 years my kids have gone there - due to a shooting outside on the streets between non-students.

Privacy?  They are kids.  At school to learn and feel safe.   Plus, you'll never have to buy boots for your kids again because all they will want is sneakers that don''t set off the metal detectors. [/quote]
