Student in custody. And was there a weapon on kid when kid was taken into custody?

In this incident, was a gun seen by another student in bathroom? Is that true or a rumor?

They didn’t. Mine along with many others fled the school. The police were telling them to go home. I was annoyed by that text.

They are also only effective if personnel are trained properly, personnel are in place, and machines are maintained. Anyone want to place a bet on how well that would go in MCPS? And meanwhile, there’s a false case sense of security and administrators are able to push off other real changes just “because we have metal detectors”. And if the detectors miss weapons going in, kids just learn it’s fake. It really would concern me to have these put in place as the solution to the problem, without a solid plan to ensure they are being used correctly.
Yes, I mentioned the 3d printed guns upthread as a loophole. But still. We need the metal detectors, period. There are actually very few all plastic guns in circulation compared to ones with metal parts. Metal detectors will also detect knives.
Just because you think the plan won't be implement properly, doesn't mean you need to cancel it altogether. That's cutting off your nose to spite your face.

It was an air soft gun.
Are you sure? That post was deleted so maybe police got it wrong?
Yes, I’m certain.

Hard disagree. This would have done nothing about last week's lockdown (which was due to a shooting incident that occurred near but not on school property). Depending on the type of threat it would do nothing about today's. But it would normalize security theater and invasions of privacy for our kids. No thank you.

According to a message from Bethesda-Chevy Chase High Assistant Principal Leanna Blandford to the high school community, the school went into lockdown after a “credible report” from a student that another student had a gun in their backpack and was showing it in the school bathroom.
