I cannot get my food budget under $600 for one adult and one kid. I have every store near me and lots of time to compare prices. Already over budget for January. I will try to go 2 meals a day for me and try to do better in February. Doesn't help that I can't cook, but love produce which goes bad fast.
Per week or per month?? Per month that is reasonable. Per week that is surprising. Produce does go bad fast but you can sort of prioritize. Like we will eat berries first, then apples and oranges, then bananas. Applesauce and fruit cups when we haven’t been to the store for awhile. Same with vegetables. I cook greens and mushrooms first, cucumbers go fast so I cut those up for salads or snacks as soon as possible then peppers. You can extend the life of whole carrots and celery by wrapping them in foil before putting them in the fridge.
