"Yes. Yes, they are. I was at the renovation/redistricting meeting last night and the parents were nasty, condescending, and absolutely disrespectful to their school board member and asst superintendent. I wouldn't talk to my worst enemy the way they were talking to these people. It made me ashamed to be associated with them." +1 Haycock is a great school, but one wouldn't know it by the way the parents acted last night! I'm sure any parent would never want their child to act the way the parents acted last night - complete disrespect.
Exactly. The teachers are incredible, and my kids are receiving a top notch education...but the parents are rude and selfish (ever tried the kiss n ride? It's more like a flip n ride) It won't be an issue for us much longer, though. Apparently my AAP kids are getting booted elsewhere.
It's not what I regularly witness at Haycock. I see happy parents, teachers and children there. Has a decision been made to create an AAP center at an elementary school in the Marshall pyramid? I wonder where they'll put it. Even though Marshall's enrollment this fall is over 40 students lower than FCPS had projected, some of the elementary schools in the pyramid don't have extra seats.
We were informed last night that the decision has been made. Apparently, stakeholder input is irrelevant to FCPS. The rumor is that it will go to Lemon Road, but I have also heard Westgate mentioned. They basically sold out our kids to buy extra spaces (and parent assent at Haycock). To the base school parents' credit, they were skeptical. I think FCPS is lying to the Haycock base parents and the Haycock AAP parents from cluster 2. People are upset about the way this is being handled. I don't think anyone is going to make any of this easy for FCPS.
