I could get a different job but it would likely be very disruptive to our life as well as carry a different set of layoff risks. But I have to at least consider it. I liked being in federal service because I loved my public safety mission, and the stability for someone from a poor background was the clincher. Now all that is tossed asunder. Just for the record, I get worked up whenever companies exercise layoffs to goose stock price, and rhe whole Better Mortgage mass layoff had me seething.
