Ok here is the Detroit News. Used a student ID - exactly why Republicans do not support them as voter ID. And the vote counts. https://www.detroitnews.com/story/news/politics/elections/2024/10/30/chinese-university-of-michigan-college-student-voted-presidential-election-michigan-china-benson/75936701007/
I went to UofM and voted absentee in Maryland in my years there . It’s shocking they would take student id since tons of nonresidents attend Michigan
If they are attending Michigan they are residents of Michigan.
Nope.
College students should not be able to register to vote in at their university location unless they pay in state tuition rates or have an in state driver license. It makes no sense that people can vote in a state if the are not even considered a state resident for college tuition purposes.
Then maybe they should not be subject to the state and local laws, taxes, and ordinances while at college. /s You are being ridiculous. The university is taking their money, they live there for most of the year, many of them work part time and pay taxes, and they are counted in the Census for Congressional apportionment and for formula federal grants to the state and local government. College students should have the same option as members of the military or out-of-state workers who are temporary residents for a few years - you can register and vote at either your hometown or at the location where you reside for school, work, or service. Don't discriminate against college students just because they are less likely to vote for fascists.
