Nobody except body builders should be counting their grams of protein. It is disordered.
Tell that to my gestational diabetes dietician....I have to count everything. I actually weigh everything too! And one of the ways that I can manage having increased amount of carbs is by increasing the ratio of fat and protein. Having protein prior to carbs actually limits the glucose spike and helps with satiety. The glucose spike from yogurt, fruit, and granola is radically different when the protein content of the yogurt is 22g per serving vs 8g per serving when all other factors are equal (same fruit, same weight of fruit, same weight of granola). Carbs are not the only value that come into play when managing glucose levels. Ill also add that because that carbs are limited to 100-150g (175 if you are really lucky) you need to increase either in fats or proteins or both to get enough calories in. Even at a IMO super low calorie consumption of 1500 calories with only 75g P plus 150g C thats a total of 900 calories. 600calories or 66g would need to be from fat. And 1500cal is LOW amount for a non-short grown a$$ female who works out and is growing another human.
