And yes my 9 year old goes to get at 8. If it is a practice or game night it might be 8:30. But I don’t change bedtime the other nights because of 1-2 sports nights per week. Our games and practices are 6-7:30. But we live in a county with early ES start times so it’s normal here for kids to go to sleep early. [/quote]

No. Most THIRD graders are 9. Starting Oct 1 of 3rd grade is when (around here) they all start to turn 9.  Only the absolute youngest kids will turn 9 in Sept of 4th grade. [/quote]

Every single 4th grader who was not redshirted starts 4th grade at 9. Most 4th graders spend the first half to 3/4 of the school year at age 9. A few will have fall birthdays, but no more than 1/4 of the class.

I don't know what your problem is except that your kid was clearly too dumb to start school at the correct age.

I have a fourth grader with a summer birthday (youngest in her class) who just turned 9. Her bestie has always been the oldest girl in the class - she has an Oct 3rd birthday so is starting 4th at 9 but will turn 10 in a month and half.  Now there are boys who were held back a year, and some of them will have turned 10 over the summer, but that's unusual because those boys were immature, not smart, or short.[/quote]
