Oh did San Francisco homebuyers get grants?  Prices have been high there since the 1950's when my parents lived there.

I like the idea of giving young people a hand up just as the GI Bill helped returning veterans buy cookie cutter homes.  Huge neighborhoods were built of 700 sq ft homes.  The same homes are about $350k in Richmond, probably $700k in NOVA.  Old Mr. Trump got rich by building apartments in NJ under the FHA scheme for affordable housing.

I want the government to encourage home ownership.  It settles people and that has an effect of reducing crime and freezing housing costs for the homeowner.  People become protective of their neighborhood.  It could lead to gentrifying dying suburbs. Homeowners buy appliances and home improvement items.  It's good for the economy.  If this program isn't possible, President Harris needs to find a program that will allow more people to buy homes.  JMO. [/quote]
