"Kamala’s policies of free money will just lead to nothing affordable. We don’t want the whole country to become San Francisco"
Oh did San Francisco homebuyers get grants? Prices have been high there since the 1950's when my parents lived there.
I like the idea of giving young people a hand up just as the GI Bill helped returning veterans buy cookie cutter homes. Huge neighborhoods were built of 700 sq ft homes. The same homes are about $350k in Richmond, probably $700k in NOVA. Old Mr. Trump got rich by building apartments in NJ under the FHA scheme for affordable housing.
I want the government to encourage home ownership. It settles people and that has an effect of reducing crime and freezing housing costs for the homeowner. People become protective of their neighborhood. It could lead to gentrifying dying suburbs. Homeowners buy appliances and home improvement items. It's good for the economy. If this program isn't possible, President Harris needs to find a program that will allow more people to buy homes. JMO.

Keep in mind that a house is the main asset for 90% of people, it’s important that people are able to buy and not just enrich their landlords.
As for OP, tough luck. Suck it up!

You will be paying a ton more in lifetime interest on a 30 year mortgage with current interest rates (vs the rates during Trump era).

Half the townhouses in my parents' complex are now owned by a Chinese national who lives in China. Really stellar landlord. I wonder if he would have been eligible for this when he bought the first one.
"We can't possibly try this thing that will help people because the imaginary people in my head might take advantage of it."
Dumbest logic ever. Imagine if we never implemented Social Security because some scammer might have gotten benefits they didn't deserve.
Who. The. Hell. Cares? "I'd rather let millions suffer so one undeserving person doesn't benefit" is a pathetic and reprehensible way to go through life.
Do you think that the countries with socialized medicine allow non-citizens to sign up? Do you think Japan's attitude about foreigners not paying their hospital bills is "Who. The. Hell. Cares?"
Of course not. Nations who take care of their citizens make sure they are only taking care of THEIR CITIZENS.

Blood and soil, right?
Fascist.
The social policies you want are not compatible with an open border. Pick one or the other.
Your insults don't affect us anymore.

I place this in the same category as paying off student loans or handing out free housing, medical care, and food to illegal migrants pouring into the U.S. Crazy, unsustainable, and profoundly unfair to hard working taxpayers.

First time homebuyer grant programs in Dem states are what largely ballooned the price of housing. It’s going to have the same effect as rent control also found in blue cities which made rent very unaffordable.
It makes the price of housing shoot up when more people are trying to buy. It’s like Pell Grants for college. More people started going to college which meant more dorms and more teachers needed which meant the price of college tuition had to shoot up. Grants (free money) only inflates demand which inflates prices.
25k grant won’t mean much especially in a housing market where sellers will go for who offers the most cash. To compete, people will need to go away above asking prices and homes will sell for more than they’re worth. It will cause a crash as inevitably people getting grants probably can’t afford to be homebuyers in the first place.
