There is a mom at my kid’s daycare that has basically her entire body covered in Tattoos. I honestly get why people get small tattoos for something every meaningful in their life-but when it’s multiple/over the top to me it just screams “look at me! Look how unique and interesting I am.” And like other have stated-I just think about how much money they spent on them when that money could have gone to much more useful things.
Meh. (Disclosure: I've spent around 18k on my tattoos) And I have found it a better use of my money than a vacation. The tattoos are permanent; a vacation is not. And for me, I love art. I buy art. I make art. And I love wearing art on my body. I am patient to get the artist I want. I spend a lot to get quality work. And at the end of the day, I am thrilled with how I spent my money. Do you criticize the same people that spend thousands on a luxury car? Or men that spends thousands on obscure hobbies or collections? It brings people happiness. And while I agree that that there are MANY bad tattoos out there, you have to recognize that there is a lot of beautiful art work on skin. These are not my tattoos but I do have tattoos by some of these artists. It is money well spent, imo. They may not be your preferred style, but it's disingenuous to claim that its not art
I appreciate art just as much as the next person. I just don’t see a reason to get it on your body. I can also appreciate that tattoo artists have incredible skill and their work is often precise and shows incredible dedication to their craft. Doesn’t mean I have to like them and doesn’t stop me from thinking about how dumb it was to spend so much money on them. And for the record-yes I judge people for buying luxury cars and “collections” just as hard. Just stupid things to spend money on. What brings me happiness is being able to make sure my kids have a good start in life by not graduating college with loans that hang over them for years.
