Maybe he will claim that they were having a passionate affair - hence his DNA under her fingernails - and were together on the day of her murder, but that he left before she was attacked. He could argue that he didn’t come forward earlier because he didn’t want to upset her grieving family.

It is of course wildly improbable that the victim would have had a passionate affair with her daughters ex boyfriend.  And he likely has no corroboration for his claims. I hope they nail him and figure out what the motive was, if anything. [/quote]
