The age gap works best in really high cost of living cities. Only 1% of the population marries with a 20 year age gap. It's not typical of most men and women. Money. Money. Money. And real estate.
So 3.5 million American men marry a woman 20 years or more younger.
The statistic was taken from the 2017 census. So it includes all age groups… Meaning if you’re an 85-year-old man married to a 65-year-old woman and got married 40 years ago you are included in this stat. it will likely go down as the younger generations are less less likely to feel pressure to marry, less likely to rely on a man financially, and more likely to be same-sex relationship relationships than any other generation before. It also includes the outliers like 60-year-old Brad Pitt dating a 34-year-old woman. Most men are not Brad Pitt and he’s a real outlier in terms of fame, money, and looks.
