Yeah, when I was in college, grad school and living a young professional life, I met so many guys my same age. I can’t imagine being attracted to an old guy. The older guys I worked with were mostly all married with kids. There were a few single ones and they seemed kind of sleezy. I had absolutely zero interest in them. I can’t imagine a self respecting, well educated young female dating someone double their age.

There are a lot of women out there not at all like you, and the dating apps have changed everything.

As someone who dates a hedge fund manager from NYC in my 40s for over a year exclusively, I can attest that even those men often don't date these girls. They have a main partner who is just as successful as them in New York and are hanging out with young babies who seek dolce vita on business trips.

I am the pp. My DH is not a club type guy, never was. When they go to conferences, I know some of the sales guys will get tables. Our friend is in sales and said it is common for the reps to rack up hundreds of thousands of dollars on those trips.

On one trip, my friends and I were standing around in front of a club. We were in our forties. My feet hurt and I just got us a table. My thought was if my Dh or any of our male friends was here, they would or could get a table. It cost a few thousand to be able to sit down.

That was not my idea of a fun night. The friend who wanted to go to this hot club thought it was a waste of money to get a table. Ugh. Why do I even go to these places?

I am sure most women in their 20s are not interested in a man in his 40s. But there are enough attractive ones in the DC area who do, that I am able to regularly date and have sex. The relationships never last, but that’s not really the point.

I have teens and I remember when I was in my twenties. I totally thought a 30yo was old. I don’t think 20 something year old girls are trying to date 50 year olds.

I am sure there are some desperate women from poor backgrounds that may want a sugar daddy type situation but I personally don’t know anyone like this. You can be hopeful and have a life of your own before trying to date a man who is your dad’s age.

Yep. My late teens daughter and her friends recently discovered one tree hill and Chad Michael Murray. They think he’s so cute. Turns out he is starring in a new movie with Brooke shields (they date in that movie) and I asked them if they wanted to watch and they were like ew no he’s old now!

He’s 42. Still looks good LOL but they are into early 20s CMM.

I think Miami, NYC or large international city is not the norm. That’s not everyday average cute girl going to a state school. She marries her Midwest khaki average cute dude who porks out at 45 from too much hops. But hey he has his gov benefits.

DC has this but lower level.

But even then I hear everyday people joke about sugar daddies/mommas all the time. Even people who claim they could never. I was in a moms groups when my kids were babies and the number of plain Jane Midwest moms joking how they married wrong and could use a sugar daddy sickened me. It’s so annoying because people don’t even know what they are talking about!!

I don’t think 50s and 30s is an extreme though, 20s yes. Some of these men are having babies with these women. Not all, but it’s very common. Ask me how I know.


I agree that being super fit and good looking gets you far at any age. Women date younger all the time and no they don’t get pointed out on their dates. That’s a hilarious thinking from that dude. Again not your average woman. Someone with funds to upkeep herself. Hate to point to celebrities but like Paris Hilton is her 40s. She’s married but you all get the point.
