Idiot #2 here. I suppose you're following the letter of the law, but not the spirit of the law. If your animal's poop becomes someone else's problem in any way, you're being incredibly inconsiderate. I don't have a dog in this particular fight, since my trash is a dumpster that I don;t have to drag or clean (so be my guest if you find yourself in my alley), but I'm really sick and tired of the crap on our streets, the extra long leashes, the occasional absence of leashes, and the expectation that Fifi's slobber won't bother me. For me, the issue is dog owner entitlement, and, although I recognize that at least you do scoop even if you dump inappropriately, I still have to agree when a PP calls you out for being one of THOSE dog owners.
Actually, I'm sorry for calling you an idiot. While we disagree on the pick up issue, we are in agreement on the other issues you raise and I think you have some good points. I dislike all the things I bolded, but, I think it goes overboard when you suggest I am one of THOSE dog owners because I may leave the bag in an available trashcan. Remember, I said if your trash bin is put away, secured on your property, I would never notice it. If it is on the street or at the curb, it's an available trashcan. I am, in fact, following the letter and the spirit of the law. The only reason my dog's bag is in any way your problem is if your garbage man removes it, which has nothing to do with me. Your problem is with your trash guy. To you, the problem is dog owner entitlement. To me, it's the insult and entitlement of dog haters who suggest, right on this thread, that I must have a dog because I don't have a baby, and that my dog is worthy of target practice and myself of tar and feathering....all because I *may* put a sealed bag of waste in a trashcan that is in a public space. Honestly, it is this kind of hate that makes me unconcerned about your (I don't mean you personally, just the collective you) trashcan. There may be no solution to this, but the main reason I posted was to apologize for calling you an idiot. I won't be posting on this thread again because I have a two post rule, after which I think a thread gets irritating, so I'll leave the last words to the people who will love coming back here and insulting me for what is, in reality, a pretty minor thing in life.
