I don't know for sure, but [b]wouldn't be surprised if two of the variables that US News uses to rank universities are acceptance and yield rates[/b].

My kid is going through a love affair with USC, and hasn't even seen the campus and what a total [b]shithole LA is[/b].  By available objective measures, USC is on the same level as University of Wisconsin, University of Maryland, University of Florida, University of Washington, or University of Illinois.
